Tasting notes for the week of March 13, 2017
Lodi, Cal– Bright, minty aromas and flavors of white chocolate mint cookie, exotic tropical fruit, and lime and curry leaves with a glycerous, lively, dry-yet-fruity medium-full body and a tingling, subtle, medium-length eucalyptus honey on apples, Asian spices, and caramel cream finish with fine, silky tannins and moderate oak.
Stephen Vincent Sauvignon Blanc
Lake county, Cal – Aromas of grilled peach and lemongrass. Notes of lime, pineapple and grapefruit. Wine has good acidity mixed with herbal and crisp tropical notes.
Hirschbach Sohne Piesporter
Mosel, Germany –Aromas of lemon candy, stone fruits and flowers lifted by exotic notes of honey, licorice and resin. Fruity and silky, offering honeyed yellow fruit flavors and a fatness from the chardonnay. Finishes with a bit of warmth.
Medoc, France – 65% Grenache, 25% Cabernet sauvignon, 10% Syrah. Red berries and peach flavors with spicy overtones. Bold and beautiful, dry, flavorful finish.
Legado Del Conde Rias Baixas Albarino
Galicia, Spain – Great Intro to a summer wine. Vibrant, focused aromas of melon and nectarine accented by an enlivening touch of orange zest. Juicy orchard and citrus fruit flavors that enhance when allowed to breathe. Closes stony and long, with a building floral quality and lingering pear and lemon.
Goldschmidt Singing Tree Chardonnay
Sonoma, Cal – Wonderfully bright and refreshing style with crisp, green apple characteristics, medium-to-high acidity and good length. Old field selection clones yield fruit with high natural acidity and citrus flavors like grapefruit and lemon. The nose shows lime, Meyer lemon, and ripe apple. Flavors of juicy green apple, dried fig, white peach, and apricot mingle with hints of vanilla. The dash of French oak pushes the finish a little longer with hints of vanilla and caramel.
Path Pinot Noir
Central Coast, Cal- Aromas of cherry-vanilla taffy, marshmallow, English cucumber and peat shoots. Enveloping flavors of dried strawberry, dried cranberry with medium body. Layers of red stone fruit and dark berries, and ends with well-integrated tannins.
Plaisir d’Eulalie Mineravois
Minervois, France -The nose offers up pleasant notes of dark berry fruits, violets and blackcurrant. Subtle suggestions of fresh oak and vanilla. Well-structured palate with fine-grained, closely-integrated tannins.
Formation Cabernet Sauvignon
Monterrey, Cal.- Brick red with cherry red rim. Aromas of black currant, red bell pepper, strawberry and blackberry. Firm tannins with flavors of back currants and chewy cherries. Vanilla and toasty oak frames the fruit with a medium finish.
Pannonica Red Blend
Burgenland, Austria-. Aromas of dark berry fruits and pepper. On the palate flavors of juicy blackberries, hints of spice and soft tannins with fresh acidity keeps the wine in check.
Peachy Canyon Westside Zinfandel
Paso Robles, Cal- 91 points Wine Enthusiast. Flush with ripe fruit and rich baking spices. Aromas of black plum, walnut, and a cabinet’s worth of anise, allspice, nutmeg, and cocoa. On the palate look for red and black cherry, huckleberry, clove and vanilla. Lush fruit and supple tannins lend structure to this delectable zin.

Paso Robles, Cal. – Bursting with freshness and ripe berry fruit. The Zinfandel provides a soft, round, and juicy base for the blend, and the Syrah is deep, spicy and saturated. The Petite Sirah, Grenache, and Mourvedre provide the perfect blend of aromatics: Dark fruit, leather, and the almighty spice rack. The tannins are well-defined and balanced by high natural acidity.

Napa Valley, CA- Intense aromatics of dark cherry, dark chocolate, mocha, spices, and clove. Hits the palate with black and red cherry, cranberry, leather and rum raisin. Plush tannins and a long finish. Less than 300 cases made!
