Wine Tasting Notes

Tasting notes for the week of July 24, 2017

Otto’s Constant Dream Sauvignon Blanc

Marlborough, NZ – Started as a humorous wine label that turned into an actual product. Very true to Sauvignon Blanc character, this wine balances great citrus acidity with a generous minerality and pleasant herbal tones.

Brady Sauvignon Blanc

Paso Robles, CA- A bright delicate wine, featuring pale straw color and aromas reminiscent of green apple and guava with subtle notes of lime zest.

Underwood Pinot Gris

Oregon– A bright and refreshing white wine that brings hints of apples, Asian pears and citrus. The perfect summer wine to enjoy with BBQ in the warm weather.

Domaine De Pouy

France-  A beautiful blend of Ugni Blanc and Colombard, fresh and smooth with flavors of yellow apple edged with green grape skin spice.

Domaine Raspail-Ay Gigondas Rose

France- A blend of Grenache and Mouverde in an extremely limited release of this refreshing rose. Full of fruit flavor with wild strawberries, summer compote and just a hint of white pepper and garrigue.

Sand Point Chardonnay

Lodi, CA– A Chardonnay blend made of two 100% Chardonnay styles. The first, 100% stainless steel aged to highlight the bright, crisp apple notes. The second, Chardonnay with ten months of French and American oak aging. This leads to a balance between the bright tropical fruit aromas and the rich, toasty vanilla oak flavors.

Gonnet Le Plaisir Pays d’Oc Pinot Noir

France- Light cherry and leather notes with a jammy mouthfeel. A perfectly light summer Pinot.

Chateau Pesquie Terrasses

France- Intense nose with spicy notes and especially black pepper and red berries. This very balanced wine offers very round tannins and fresh berries aromas, with some floral and spicy flavors.

Buried Cane Cabernet Sauvignon

Washington-  Aromas of black cherry, red raspberry, and fresh-roasted coffee, with hints of spice. Soft, rich, and round in the mouth. Well-balanced with a lingering cherry and spice finish.

Shooting Star Blue Franc

Washington-   Dark violet purple ruby in color. Aromas of blue earthy plums, dark berries and licorice. Smooth and robust in the mouth with mouth filling flavors, supple tannins and a juicy uncomplicated finish.

Three Vines Old Vine Zinfandel

California-  Opens with smells of chocolate cherries and tastes almost like blackberry syrup, yet it’s nice and dry in style. A firm coating of fine tannins gives grip on the tongue and seems to extend the juicy fruit and dark chocolate notes on the finish.

—————– GLASS POURS ONLY (no tastings, sorry!) ————–

 Stephanie Cabernet Sauvignon

Napa, Cal.- Upon first taste, the wine is full of Fresh boysenberry and blueberry aromas with some cranberry notes. Next come flavors of dark blossom violets, rose and brown spice, clove, and cinnamon. As it sits in your glass this wine develops in complexity yet again with distinct essences of mocha, dark chocolate, tar and sweet tobacco. With a beautiful, red brick color, wonderful full mid-palette and great structure, this truly is an elegant wine.

Ty Caton Tytanium Red

Sonoma, Cal– This sophisticated wine opens with alluring aromas of wild black cherry, anise and cocoa. Deep indigo tones lead to a soft, silky generous mouth feel accompanied by flavors of dark fruit and toasted oak. Layered, complex flavors remain lingering on the palate with an exceptionally long finish.
